Towpath Creamery is named in honor of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath, that runs 184.5 miles from Washington, DC to Cumberland, MD and connects with the 150-mile long Great Allegheny Passage that runs from Cumberland, MD to Pittsburgh, PA. From the National Park Service’s website: “Preserving America's early transportation history, the C&O Canal began as a dream of passage to Western wealth. Operating for nearly 100 years the canal was a lifeline for communities along the Potomac River as coal, lumber and agricultural products floated down the waterway to market. Today it endures as a pathway for discovering historical, natural and recreational treasures!”
Residents and visitors to Brunswick, MD enjoy the year-round beauty of the area by hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and camping along the towpath as well as boating, swimming, and fishing in the Potomac River. Brunswick is proud to share an exciting history with this amazing linear park which entertained over 4.8 million visitors last year!
Since physical activities tend to make people work up an appetite, we are here to satisfy your culinary needs either before, during or after your adventures. We offer healthy, farm-fresh ice cream from Trickling Springs Creamery in Chambersburg, PA, just 50 miles north of Brunswick, MD. The milk from these grass-fed cows produces a creamy and consistently delicious ice cream in both hard-dipped and soft-serve flavors. We are also co-located with the Mini-Dip, which serves sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfast items as well as fresh, locally-grown produce and goodies.
Whether you’re in the mood for a cone, cup, sundae, “wich” (ice cream/cookie sandwich!) or milkshake, come visit us to help you celebrate your adventure!

Diane Branson and Brittany Grimm
Diane - Co-Owner of The Mini-Dip , With a BS in Civil Engineering, Diane has worked in Facilities Operations and Project Management for many years. In her spare time, Diane has also hosted many gatherings and parties, catering anywhere from 20 to 150 people. Having lived across the United States and traveled to other countries, the common thread she saw between all people was the ability to create a sense of community through food. With this idea, Diane wanted to create a space with Brittany where they could support their community while nourishing their bodies, minds, and souls.
Brittany - Co-Owner of The Mini-Dip , Brittany graduated from Towson University, where she pursued a BS in Mass Communications, concentrating on Advertising and Public Relations. After college, she took that knowledge into real estate sales. She spent a lot of her time absorbing the luxuries of model homes and began spreading her knowledge and passion for design to her family and friends. She soon took her decorating talents into home staging and also partnered with Diane for weddings and special events. Once they paired their love for food and creating spaces, their plans morphed into a much bigger idea. Some would call it serendipitous!
